ALL ABOUT US
The women in physics club at UC Merced was founded in 2019 to offer female physicists on campus a place they could feel supported in their major. We wanted to create a community where anyone with an interest in physics can feel welcomed and have fun, as well as obtain any support they need for a successful future in the physics field.

WiP brings together undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty interested in physics. The organization addresses major factors that contribute to the gender gap in physics. Our mission is to bring women and allies together to reduce the isolation felt too often by minorities in physics and inspire younger generations through outreach to consider pursuing a degree in physics.

ABOUT
Membership support
We support our members directly through workshops, seminars, and our newsletter which includes a mendeley of useful information from scholarships to research opportunities. Our monthly workshop series focuses on a number of topics we believe our members would find interesting or helpful.
ABOUT
Community building
We help students form connections with each other along with faculty and graduate students. We also make sure that everyone feels included and is comfortable with forming these connections.
ABOUT
Outreach
We are one of eleven sites across the United States to host CUWiP which includes various activities. Activities include research talks by faculty, panel discussions regarding graduate school and careers in physics, presentations, laboratory tours, student research talks and more.
ABOUT
We value diversity and are committed to making all WiP members feel safe and welcome.
